Knowles & Weinstein: Two Scandals, One Lame-o Lawyer-ed Response

It’s all gone to sh*t for these two! Harry Knowles, proto-nerd blogger and alleged scam artist. Harvey Weinstein, Quentin Tarantino’s sugar daddy. It’s not surprising how similar the two cases are, but what is surprising is their almost identical responses.

Via the wrap:

On Tuesday, Knowles said he would step away from the site to focus on “therapy, detox and getting to a better place.” He said he would hand over operations of Ain’t It Cool News to his sister “while I step away.”

via the New York Times:

In a statement to The Times on Thursday afternoon, Mr. Weinstein said: “I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it. Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go.”

He added that he was working with therapists and planning to take a leave of absence to “deal with this issue head on.”

Therapy and a leave of absence. Nobody ever buys this sh*t. Yet the legal teams keep trotting it out all the same. I know they are both sobbing into the pillows of their therapists’ couches right now, reflecting on all the clap crap they have wrought. I really, really hate lawyer-fied B.S. like this. Weinstein’s lawyers are even trying to portray him as a “dinosaur” confused by our new modern rules of conduct.

Harry’s lawyers, on the other hand, went with the less imaginative “boozer” angle. Lame.

This kind of behaviour is completely expected of Weinstein, but who would have imagined a scandal like this bringing down Ain’t It Cool News? We live in crazy times.

Best of luck in “dealing with this issue head on” guys. You are inspirations to us all.

I AM FERGUS THE JUSTIFIER!
